Guess the Food by Emoji

Sixty emoji puzzles with the answers on the same page, sorted easy to hard and ending with a round of food sayings. Read each string left to right; every one spells a dish, a drink or a phrase.

How to run it

Read the string left to right and say the first thing it sounds like. One point per answer, no points for arguing. The answers below are the intended ones, not the only ones: a puzzle that reads as “cheese toastie” to one person reads as “grilled cheese” to another, and both should score.

Before you send the round to anyone

The same puzzle can look different on someone else’s phone. Dango, mooncake, fondue and falafel are drawn quite differently by Apple, Google and Samsung, and the newest characters show as an empty rectangle on a device that has not had a font update. If you are running this at a party, screenshot the round on one device and show that image to everyone.
